Mark Chu joined Thomas, Mamer & Haughey, LLP in 2006. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation with an emphasis on labor, employment and immigration law. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for
the Illinois Attorney General's Office in Springfield.
He was an intern in the U.S. Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission's Chicago Office, and also
with Heartland Alliance's Midwest Immigrant and
Human Rights Center in Chicago.Mark graduated as a Chancellor's Scholar from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001, where he received two bachelor of arts degrees, one in history and another in political science. He received his juris doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2005, and was admitted to the bar that year. During law school he served as a research assistant in the areas of employment discrimination and professional responsibility. In 2005, his paper on English-only rules in the workplace reached the final round of competition in the Louis Jackson National Student Writing Competition in Employment and Labor Law.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, and the Champaign County Bar Association. He speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently and has studied Spanish.
